Hooded Flame Fairy Wrasse - New Caledonia

Hooded Flame Fairy Wrasse - New Caledonia

Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus

The Cirrhilabrus Wrasse is a genus that contains reef safe and exquisitely colored species that are also known for being very hardy. They do best with a varied diet of frozen meaty foods and marine pellets. Feeding them multiple times a day is recommended since they are very active. Beware: They are jumpers, so a covered aquarium is necessary. The Hooded Flame Fairy Wrasse has breathtaking colorations, hardiness and high activity levels, which makes them very desirable in aquariums. This peaceful fish can be added to just about any aquariums since they are not known to eat or damage corals. Hooded wrasses can mix well with others as long as they are females (most at medium size or smaller will be) and introduced at the same time to the aquarium. Males can be territorial especially added with other males. They have a small adult size of 4ā€ which is another reason why they are so desirable. This deep-water species is predominately yellow and red with hints of black on their fins with males being even more vibrant. The Hooded Wrasse is found in the Western Pacific within coral reefs up to 200 meters deep.
